DJ Mes spinning jackin’ house music live | Safe House Podcast

DJ Mes from Guesthouse Music

DJ Mes from Guesthouse Music

This Safe House podcast features DJ Mes from Guesthouse in San Francisco rocking his unique style of jackin’ house music.  We recently had the pleasure of catching Mes at Smartbar here in Chicago when he played with Giom.  We all went out to dinner at our favorite sushi spot, Mirai the night before with friends Frank Solano, Lee Jarvis and Jangatha.  So kids, if you want to be like Mes it begins with Carpaccio, Kani Nigiri and Spicy Mono at Mirai and ends with destroying the dancefloor at Smartbar.  However, you need to rock a few loft parties in between.

Enjoy the mix!

Gene Farris Safe House Podcast

Gene Farris is one of the most innovative DJs to come out of Chicago’s underground house music scene.  He has consistently been pushing the envelope of Chicago house music with fresh sounds and the unique perspectives that only a truly global citizen can bring to the table.  When you listen to his mixes you can tell that he is rooted in old school Chicago but has lived and traveled around the world.  We are lucky to have him back in Chicago.

This week’s episode features the first mix (Love) in a two part series.  Next week we feature part two (Hate).

Check out his label Farris Wheel Recordings.

DJ Mes live at the Safe House in Chicago Halloween 2006

31 03 2010
DJ Mes

DJ Mes of Guesthouse

This is a classic Safe House live recording of DJ Mes (Guesthouse Music) recorded live at the Safe House Halloween Bash in 2006.  We we originally dropped this  jackin’ house music podast back in 2006.  This will be a cherished mix for those of you out there who remember this amazing party.  Halloween was always incredible at the Safe House because we enlisted the entire building in the effort, allowing the party to span across three lofts giving us more than 10,000 square feet to do our thing.  Ahh great times!

Goulet drops a hot set of fidget, tech house and grimey electro

Goulet

Goulet

Up to now Goulet (Revolutionary Music) has been known in Chicago for his Safe House downtempo, hip hop and turntablism DJ sets and of course as part of the electro-organic band Bryan Ford & Goulet.  However, this set will introduce you to yet another dimension of this very talented musician.  Goulet has been tooling around with fidget, electro house and tech house for quite a while.  This set demonstrates his prowess as a peak hour DJ.

Check out Goulet’s remix of Bryan Ford’s Here All Along feat. Ava Fain.

Goulet’s downtempo mixes can be found at Revolutionary Music’s downtemp podcast Unlocked.

DJ Adrienne Sanchez rocks the Freakeasy with jackin house, fidget and tech funk

DJ Adrienne Sanchez

Few DJs bring the funk like Adrienne Sanchez of Revolutionary Music.  She is one of our very favorite DJs because she destroys it every time she hits the decks.  Moreover, she make it look easy.  When Adrienne Sanchez blows your mind with her ridiculous blend of tech, funk, jackin house and dirty grooves; she’s does it with a big grin.  She has fun and so does the dance floor.  This set was recorded live, and remains unedited, from her recent appearance at a Freakeasy underground party here in Chicago.  As usual, she took no prisoners.

Jeremiah Seraphine drops the opening DJ set with deep house to jackin’ house

Jeremiah Seraphine

Jeremiah Seraphine

Jeremiah Seraphine, co-owner of Revolutionary Music and BeatMaven.com, drops a nice opening set for the Safe House Podcast.  He begins with deep house and ramps it up nicely to a Derrick Carter-esque bumpity romp through a number  of brow scrunchin’ jackin’ house cuts.  Jeremiah told us that this set is what you’d hear from him if he were playing the opening slot at a club night here in Chicago.  It is fitting that this mix is the opening set at our new home here on the Beat Maven Podcast Network.

Jeremiah Seraphine recently started a new residency every third Wednesday, with Lee Jarvis at Martini Ranch (Chicago Ave. and Franklin) here in Chicago.
